BINH DUONG WILL HAVE THE FIRST EXPORT BY RAIL SHIP THROUGH CHINA

According to Binh Duong provincial authorities, this is the first shipment of goods to be moved directly by rail from this local station to China.

Talking to a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper this morning (July 13), the representative of Binh Duong Department of Transport confirmed that relevant units are coordinating to prepare for export shipments by iron road from Song Than station (Binh Duong) to China.

Accordingly, it is expected that in September this year, goods will be put on the train at Song Than station (Di An city, Binh Duong province) to Dong Dang station (Lang Son province) and then continue to move into the Chinese market. .

Although there is no information on the type of goods that will be exported, but according to the Binh Duong province authorities, this is the first shipment moving continuously by rail from this local station to China.

Previously, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with Vietnam Railway Corporation. The Vietnam Railways Corporation said that the Ministry of Transport is currently developing and submitting to the Government a "Plan for improving the capacity of international rail transport" with 8 stations, of which the planning Song Than station (Binh Duong) becomes a key cargo station in the South.

Specifically, two railway lines will be formed: Song Than - Dong Dang; Song Than - Lao Cai. From here, goods by rail from Binh Duong will connect with China and other countries on the Asia-Europe rail transport route.

The first cargo shipment from Binh Duong to China by rail is expected to take place in September.

According to the Vietnam Railways Corporation, Binh Duong's Song Than station has the advantage of being granted an intermodal code, and the locality's early completion of site and security requirements will further promote intermodal efficiency to economic. In particular, doing import and export procedures at the station will create great favorable conditions for import and export businesses.

Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh affirmed that the locality will always create conditions for Vietnam Railways Corporation to clear ground, focus on investing in renovating and improving customs clearance capacity, warehousing system....effectively exploiting and developing Song Than international intermodal station into the logistics center of the province and the whole Southeast region.

Song Than Station is located on National Highway 1A, bordering Binh Duong Province and Ho Chi Minh City, capable of connecting with many provinces. In 2022, Song Than station has transported over 1.6 million tons of goods, with main transportation items being electronic equipment, cars, grocery goods, food, production materials and products of manufactured products for industrial zones of Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

The total capacity of international intermodal transport at Song Than station reaches 1.27 million tons/year, is expected to reach 2.5 million tons/year by 2025. Due to the lack of international intermodal transport, goods are imported and exported. Transport at this station only accounts for about 10% to 15% of output. In addition, the lack of import and export procedures at the station affected the time and cost of import and export activities.

The export of goods by rail from Binh Duong to China in the near future is a premise for Song Than station to develop to its full potential.
